Review: Sutton Button was born with brown fur like her mother with hints of yellow from her father. However, her sibling puppies have completely yellow fur. Sutton is a happy puppy from a happy family until others deny the fact that she belongs to her family all because of how she looks in comparison. Like myself, I come from parents of different races than each other. I wish I had had a picture book like this one growing up. In just a few pages, one can see just how much love is placed within this story and the characters. It is a strong example of a family that supports and uplifts one another in the face of adversity. Plus, who doesn’t want to look at adorable illustrations of dogs? Even through this story of a dog family, I was extremely touched by how much I was still able to connect with Sutton and her experiences. I love this tale of familial love, self-acceptance, and strength and I hope you will too!
