I got an email from Cindy at Emmaus Homeless Shelter asking for more books for the kids who live and come through there. They're really encouraging reading, and she said they have a lot of books with girl characters, could we send some books with boy characters?
We recently got a donation of books from our friend Sandy who has two teenaged sons. Perfect timing!
So I packed up many of those.
Between those books, others I've bought including Stuntboy by Jason Reynolds and Raul the third and the awesome Black Panther series by Ronald L. Smith, I'd say we have a great selection of books with inspiring male characters.
I brought them all to Haverhill. Lauren, another Emmaus employee, met me and collected the books.
Off to the kids they go.
